Garúa Milonguero Craicfest 2020
Thursday 25 June to Monday 29 June 2020
Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, Ireland
Garúa is an invitation-only, close-embrace, encuentro with high-quality music on a sprung wooden floor all set in a gothic Irish castle. It’s more than that though… Fundamental to a good life is the Craic and as well as wonderful DJs and all the trimmings we have a dedicated Craic delivery team. The Craic is about socialising, laughter and shared moments. Join us and be part of the magic.
Our invitation to register extends to all approved members of our Garúa Milonguero Facebook Group. You must obtain the password to access the registration form.
The registration period runs from 1 April 2020, 12:00 pm to 1 June 2020, 12:00 pm.
This event is ended and closed for registrations…
Here is the lineup for the entire weekend. We suggest you come along early and join us on the first night. We have a few surprises, as well as a great venue, in one of the best pubs in Tullamore. A wonderful chance to shake off the week and get into your dance mode.
The bar and raffle
In addition to the free tea, coffee and water, there will be a full bar offering a fine selection of Irish Whiskey, Craft Beer, Prosecco, Red and White Wine, Irish Cream, Soft Drink and Juice. Vouchers only can be used at the bar. To get a set of bar vouchers buy a ticket in the raffle drawn on Sunday. The vouchers are included in your raffle entry. Raffle tickets are available at Charleville Castle reception. Cash only.
You will have 3hrs on Friday and Saturday, and 2hrs on Sunday, to relax, visit local attractions, explore Tullamore town and grab a bite to eat with friends. Shuttle buses will run you to and from the castle in just 7min. Here are our recommendations for local bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes and other cool things to do.
Ireland is a land of stories so we have chosen those who are able to create a little magic. Here’s who’s coming!
All milongas will be held in the Great Hall at Charleville Castle. The preparty is held at The Townhouse which is also the meeting point for the shuttle bus to the castle each day.
All milongas will be held in the Great Hall at Charleville Castle.
The castle was built by Charles William Bury, Earl of Charleville, and was designed by Francis Johnston, one of the leading architects of the day, who also designed, amongst others, the General Post Office (GPO) in Dublin.
It is a private castle where the family still live on the upper floors and is only open to the public on rare occasions, so we are highly privileged to be granted the use of the castle for Garúa. The castle was designed for summer parties, and with this in mind it has a stunning hall with huge west-facing windows that catch the setting sun over the gardens. Notably, the ceiling is designed in the same manner as the famous Windsor Castle in England. The Bury family took breakfast in this cosy and sunlit room with a baby grand piano. It is next to the Great Hall and will be our place to relax in between tandas.
The main entrance presents a wide sweeping staircase leading to the hall and morning room. Passages lead to the lavatories, the cloakroom, and the courtyard. Charleville Castle is said to be the finest example of gothic-revival architecture in the country. This is a veritable gothic castle of grand proportions. It owes its “Tin Soldier Fortress” look to the celebration of victory over the third French revolutionary expedition to Ireland. Explore the grounds, forest paths, fields of sheep and peaceful places to sit and relax.More information
The Townhouse & Bar
The Thursday night preparty location and meeting point.
Our favourite spot so far! This is a great place to relax, eat and meet friends. It is also the venue for our Pre Party on Thursday night and the meeting point for the shuttle bus to Charleville Castle each day.More information
Wherever you stay in Tullamore you are 5min walk from The Townhouse where the shuttle bus runs to and from the castle each day. Here are the hotels we recommend:

Tullamore Court Hotel
Aside from trying the local ‘black gold’ guinness there are plenty of things to do during your weekend stay in Tullamore. Here are just a few activities we recommend:
We love you and you might not even know it!
The Brewery Tap Bar & Recycling Centre
Things involving Balls, Whips & getting lost in the woods you naughty people!
Cat Killing in Birr Co Offaly. The place for the curious.
Tullamore D.E.W. Whiskey Visitors Centre

Route A takes, at worst, 2 hours from landing in Dublin. The total return journey (bus and train) from Dublin Airport to Tullamore is just under €36.00. We would suggest you aim to land in Dublin no later than 14:00hrs on the day you travel. The very latest you could arrive is 16.30hrs. Equally, hiring a car and driving is a great way to see Ireland.
