Getting around

All participants will stay and eat in Tullamore Town. Tullamore is a typical, Irish, provincial town that was first laid out by the Bury family to provide a trade and commerce center to serve its castle. It is also home to two Whiskey distilleries, one located in the center of town. The town is small, with a population of just 14,500. You can walk from one end to the other in ten minutes. All hotels, accommodation and supermarkets are in the centre and, easily accessible on foot, as is the train station, so you don’t need a car.

Train station

The train station is 2min walk from The Townhouse, our Pre Party venue on Thursday and where the shuttle bus departs for Charleville Castle, the main venue. It is a 5min walk to any of the hotels on the list.

Shuttle bus

Our private shuttle buses will depart from The Townhouse (View Map) and run to and from Charleville Castle throughout the entire weekend. It is a 7min journey and our team will always be nearby to help you. To get a bus pass, simply select the option, when you register. A bus pass costs €20 per person at registration. You can also buy a bus pass last minute at The Townhouse (the main bus stop in Tullamore) on Friday for €25 per person. Exact departure times will be confirmed once registration is completed.

Taxies

You shouldn’t need a taxi as we will have buses running throughout the event to get people back and forth. A taxi from the town to the castle averages about €12-14. Be warned, Tullamore is a small town with few taxis and especially at peak times in evenings and night you might be waiting for up to an hour to get one. So, booking in advance is wise. NB. There is no Uber in Tullamore. Tullamore Taxis: 087 966 2264 MAC’s Cabs: 057 935 1111 DC Cabs: 057 935 0500

Car parking

For those hiring cars, be aware that since 2019 Ireland has a zero alcohol drinking and driving limit so allocated drivers better stick to tea and water or book a bus pass and leave the car in Tullamore each day. There is plenty of free parking on the castle grounds. No need to book. You will need to check parking availability with your chosen hotel. If you choose to drive to Tullamore but use the Garúa shuttle bus to transfer to and from the castle each day, park your car in Tullamore and get a bus pass. There is plenty of parking available for €4.50 per day behind Spollens Bar (Map) right next to the Garúa shuttle bus stop, in front of The Townhouse.
