Getting to Maynooth

Dublin International Airport, Terminal 1 is the usual arrival terminal for all Ryanair, Lufthansa, Air France, United Airlines and most other European operators. Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are less than 5min walk from each other. If you are flying to Dublin here are the best ways to get to Maynooth:

By taxi

By coach

There are two coach companies running direct services to Maynooth. As you exit the airport look to your left. Tickets can be purchased at the bus station or online. Note timing for scheduled departures as you may need to wait up to 2.5hrs for a coach.

Expressway:

About €13 one-way. This is the state operated service so entirely trustworthy and Leap cards are valid at the machine by the bus stop or on the bus. This also has a 3.20 am Monday connection to airport for people on Red-eye flights. For scheduling and tickets visit expressway.ie.

Aircoach:

Ireland’s largest private shuttle service provider serving all of Ireland’s key cities and towns. Tickets can be bought in advance. Note that Aircoach is not part of the state-run LEAP card system. Look for the Galway bus 706 which passes through Maynooth. For scheduling and tickets visit aircoach.ie.

By coach and train

This is the cheapest and fastest route!  Just outside of Dublin Airport on the left is the Aircoach station. Buy a ticket for Drumcondra (about €5) from the ticket office. Every coach stops at Drumcondra. At Drumcondra coach stop walk across the road to the train station and buy a ticket to Maynooth (about €2.90) at the ticketing machines inside the station. Take the train for Longford from Platform 2. Get off at Maynooth.

Maynooth town centre, the University and The Roost pub are all about 5min walking from the train station. Exit the station, walk over the canal via the footbridge and just follow the footpath straight ahead. Turn right after the canal and cross the park to the Glenroyal Hotel. Or continue straight ahead past The Roost bar (preparty and afterafterparty venue) on your way to the University Campus. See the map above.
